New specialisation

Thanks to the Eastern European University project, Lublin University of Technology is launching a new second degree specialization at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering - Sustainable Building.

The start of specialization is planned for mid-February 2017. The specialization lasts 3 semesters, 30 ECTS each, which complies with the European standards.

The specialization is addressed to graduates of Environmental Engineering and Civil Engineering and Architecture who wish to study in English and plan their future career in specialized companies or design studios on the European market.

 

 

The specialization Sustainable Building meets the needs of the market and current trends of combining environmental protection with technological development. Moreover, the reduction of energy consumption is one of the key elements of sustainable development principle, which includes economic exploitation of energy sources, as well as environment and climate protection. The main objective of sustainable civil engineering is to reduce the negative impact of buildings on the natural environment and human health; rational use of energy, water and other resources; decreasing the amount of pollution, waste and the level of natural environment degradation.      

 

 

 

 

The specialization educates highly-qualified specialists, familiar with EU Directives on the natural environment and climate protection, as well as energy performance of buildings.  

 

 

Educational outcomes for the specialization Sustainable Building were adopted in the Resolution No. 34/205/VI of the Senate of Lublin University of Technology on defining educational outcomes for second degree studies in Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering.

By the Resolution No. 19a/2015 of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering Council dated 17.09.2015 the study programme and start of the specialization Sustainable Building in February 2017 were accepted.

  • Modern building materials in the aspect of energy efficient solutions;

  • Thermal comfort in passive buildings;

  • Heating systems in passive buildings;

  • Ventilation and air-conditioning in passive buildings;

  • Water supply and sewage disposal systems in passive buildings;

  • Energy performance of buildings;

  • Control systems and automation in the passive housing;

  • Intelligent buildings;

  • Photovoltaics;

  • Computer aided design (PHPP);

  • Disposal and recycling of building materials;

  •  Assessment of the impact of the building on the environment;

  • Life Cycle Assessment of equipment and products;

  • Costing planning;

  • Household sewage treatment plants;

  • Monitoring of natural environment;

  • Applied hydraulics;

  • Construction physics;

  • Design solutions for passive buildings - energy-efficient construction;

  • Technology of construction and finishing works;

  • Innovative technological systems in civil engineering.
